What surprises nature in the Seychelles?

We are used to the fact that almost every exotic direction is advertised as a paradise on earth. However, when it comes to the Seychelles, there is no exaggeration in the term. If there were a paradise, it could indeed look like an island nation consisting of 115 islands and islets scattered across the Indian Ocean. Only 33 of them are inhabited, so if you dream of deserted islands, you will find them here. What else can you expect in the Seychelles? First of all, fabulous beautiful beaches covered with fine and white sand, where the shelter from the heat is provided by the extensive leaves of palm trees, and the shore is washed away by the warm ocean water. It is the diverse and lush nature that is the biggest asset of Seychelles - apart from the climate that is conducive to resting here all year round.

Seychelles' nature is typical of the tropical climate of the islands. As much as one tenth of the total area of all the islands is covered by tropical forest. There is no shortage of endemic species, i.e. species that are not found anywhere else in the world. Speaking of nature, it is impossible not to mention the fabulous colorful coral reefs - the vast majority of islands is just coral origin, only a few have a volcanic origin. The underwater life of the ocean is also very rich, which we can observe by diving off the Seychelles coast.

The Seychelles' nature is the most beautiful on these islands. You will not find here world-class monuments or attractions that guarantee a large dose of adrenaline. These islands are an ideal place to relax for those who, in contact with nature, best recharge their batteries and relax. What can we expect here?

First of all, uniqueness. As many as 75 species of fauna and flora in the Seychelles are the so-called endemic species. This means that it is the only place in the world where you can see them. One of the most famous of these is the Seychelles Ice Cream. The palm has not spread like any other palm species by sea, because its seeds are hard to sustain on the water. One can weigh up to 25 kg.

Seychelles are also one of the two places in the world where we will meet giant turtles. In Seychelles we will meet both the land ones, which are sometimes willing to be fed, as well as the sea ones. Swimming in the company of these huge but very gentle reptiles is one of the biggest attractions of Seychelles and certainly an unforgettable experience.

One of the most beautiful things in the nature of Seychelles is the coral reef, which you will find here in excellent condition. Diving we can admire not only corals, but also the lush underwater life of the ocean, with colorful schools of fish that will flow right next to us. You can also come across a reef shark there! What is less appealing to tourists is a very diverse and rich world of insects and arachnids. Huge, colourful spiders are a permanent feature of the landscape here.

How is nature protected in the Seychelles?

There was a time when the fabulously beautiful and exotic nature of the Seychelles was threatened by over-exploitation and poorly designed regulations. However, the authorities of this country realized that it is the flora and fauna that are the greatest national treasure and what attracts tourists from all over the world and have implemented a repair program. Today we can see the effects of this - we will not see here ruining the landscape of huge hotel facilities, and the construction of new guesthouses is only possible if they do not disturb the peace ... turtles, which must be able to lay eggs peacefully on the beach. Thanks to this, the exotic and still wild nature of the Seychelles continues to delight.
